Hand-colored original engraving of the American Northwest by Royal cartographer De L’Isle from a scarce English edition, 1754. Pre-dates explorations by Captain James Cook therefore showing speculations of a possible water passage through the North American continent and other apocryphal elements. Note voyage of Admiral de Fonte. Many interesting annotations throughout.
Original antique map on paper displayed on a white mat with a gold border. Mat fits a standard-size frame. Archival plastic sleeve and Certificate of Authenticity included. Map, 11.5″L x 8.75″H; mat, 16″L x 12″H.
